However, the people in the book have a Lowell connection, the city that I was born in, and presently live. Basically, the book is about Eliza Bean. Born in Bethel Maine, she was a mill girl who came to Lowell and married a house painter named Henry Foster. Henry served w/ the 26th Massachusetts Infantry, and Eliza's brother, Andrew, who was a school teacher, served with the 5th Maine.
