The Obituary of Francois Xavier Savard, 1916, Lowell, Massachusetts

According to the records at Cimetière Saint-Joseph in Chelmsford, Massachusetts Francois Xavier Savard was 61 when he died in 1916. This same information is published in within the Lowell Sun via his death notice on 26 Oct 1916, pg. 8.

DEATHS
SAVARD---Frank Savard, aged 61 years, died this morning at his home , 711 Lakeview avenue. He leaves three sons, Arthur, Oliver and Edouard and two daughters, Mrs. Corinne Grondin and Mrs. Florida Tremblay.

Funeral Notice: published in The Sun October 28th 1916, pg. 7.

SAVARD--The funeral of Frank X. Savard took place this morning from the home, 711 Lakeview avenue. Solemn high mass of the requiem was celebrated at St. Louis church at 8 o'clock by Rev. J. B. Labossiere, assisted by L. C. Bedard as deacon and Rev. E. J. Vincent as sub-deacon. The bearers were D. Belleville, J. Daneau, T. Savard., U. Larue, P. Fortin and G. Deziel. Burial was in St. Joseph's Cemetery, where the committal prayers were read by Rev. Fr. Vincent. Funeral arrangements were in charge of Undertakers Joseph Albert & Son.

Assuming that these sources are correct Frank's birth date is abt. 1855. Now, if I look at the 1880 Federal census of Fall River Massachusetts, his age is recorded as being 25. Again, this makes his birth abt. 1855. In the 1900 Federal Census of Lowell, MA he is recorded as being 35 years of age, which would make his birth abt. 1865. I don't believe this information to be correct. This same census has his wife, Anselmie or Anseline, or Anselme Picard, recorded as being 9 years older than he. Moving on to the 1910 Federal census of Lowell, MA our Frank is recorded as being 54. Ok, again, birth date is abt. 1855/56.. His wife is recorded as being 2 years older than him at this point. There is no 1920 census to refer to as he dies in 1916. So.. looking even further into the documents I have collected, and noticing that in the marriages recorded for the year 1878 in the city of Fall River, MA on page 100, record number 277, both Frank and his wife are recorded as being 23. Thus making both their birth dates abt 1855.
