NORTH GROSVENORDALE Normand Chaput, 71 of North Grosvenordale, CT, died on Monday, October 11, 2004 at the UMass-Memorial Medical Center in Worcester. He was born on November 24, 1932, in North Grosvenordale, CT the son of the late Edward and Anita (Robillard) Chaput.
He is survived by his wife of almost 48 years, Constance (Braman) Chaput; they were married in St. Lewis Church in Webster, MA. Normand was a graduate of St. Joseph's High School class of 1950. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict (18 months in Germany) receiving the Occupation Medal (Germany) and National Defense Service Medal. He was a member of VFW Post #10088 and the American Legion Post #0067 member. He enjoyed gardening and was a member of the National Home Gardening Club. Normand enjoyed his visits to Foxwoods with his wife and was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan.
In addition to his wife Constance, he is survived by three daughters, Donna Henley of Dudley, MA, Melissa Rilkoff of Sandwich, MA, Rebecca Poirier of Charlton, MA; three sons, Normand Chaput II of Quaker Hill, CT, David Chaput of Webster, MA, Edward Chaput of Canterbury, CT, one sister, Theresa Pescosolido of Berlin, CT and Fort Lauderdale, FL; 13 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
No calling hours. The Mass of Christian Burial is on Saturday October 16, at 11 a.m. in Saint Joseph Church in North Grosvenordale. Burial, with presentation of Full Military Honors, will follow in Saint Joseph Cemetery. Valade Funeral Home, 23 Main Street is in charge of arrangements.
