GAUDETTE--Mrs. Felanise (Courtois) Gaudette, widow of Alexander Gaudette, died Saturday at the home of her granddaughter, Mrs. Joseph Carle, 32 Pawtucket street, aged 74 years. She had been a resident of Lowell for over half a century. Besides her granddaughter, she is survived by one son, Edward St. Godard of Malden; four sisters, Mrs. Simon Langlais of Canada, Mrs. Axilda Mailloux and the Misses Delphine and Denise Courtois, the three latter of this city, and two brothers, Moise Courtois of Lowell and Oliver Courtois of Lynn.


GAUDETTE--Died in this city March 21, at 32 Pawtucket street, Mrs. Felanise (Courtois) Gaudete. Funeral will take place Tuesday morning at 7:15 from the home of her granddaughter, Mrs. Joseph Carle, 32 Pawtucket street. Solemn high funeral mass will be celebrated at St Jean Baptiste church at 8 o'clock. Burial in St. Joseph's cemetery, Funeral Director Joseph Albert in charge.

Olympe E. Mayotte, a well known resident of this city, died yesterday at the age of 71 years. He made his home at 80 Ford street. He was for many years a member of St. Joseph's parish and was a member of the Holy Family society. He leaves his wife, Mrs. Alice (Jodoin) Mayotte; two daughters, Mrs. Celine Beaudry of this city; Pfc Therese Mayotte, WAC, at Camp Campbell Ky.; two sons, Sgt. Gerard Mayotte, U.S.A., somewhere in England; Pfc Robert Mayotte, U.S.A., stationed at Camp Gordon Ga.; a sister Mrs. Louise Ducharme of Joliette, P.Q.; a brother, Joseph Mayotte of Hamilton Ont. and four grandchildren.

MAYOTTE -- Died in this city, Jan 14, Olympe E. Mayotte. Relatives and friends may call at the M. R. Laurin funeral home, 295 Pawtucket street, after 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon. Funeral Thursday morning from the funeral home. Solemn high funeral mass at 10 o'clock at St. Jean Baptiste church. Burial in St. Joseph's cemetery.

OLYMPE. E. MAYOTTE

The funeral of Olympe E. Mayotte, 80 Ford street, a well known resident of the Holy Name society of St. Joseph's parish, took place yesterday from the M. R. Laurin funeral home, 295 Pawtucket street. At 10 o'clock at St. jean Baptiste church, a solemn high funeral mass was celebrated by Rev. Felix Tessier, a nephew from St. Zephirin parish of Cochitate, assisted by Rev. Gerard Trahant, OMI, as deacon, and Rev. Armand Morrisette, OMI as sub-deacon.

The choir, under the direction of the organist, Charles Belanger, sang a mass of requiem, a composition of Rodolphe E. Pepin, soloists being Arthur E. Paquin, Emile Lagasse, Wolfred Jacques and Arthur Germain. Many parishioner attended. Bearers, all members of the Holy Family society of St. Joseph;s parish were, Morrill Ledoux, Alexandre Beaudoin, Liboire Gauthier, Pierre Houle, Alphonse Desroschers and Joseph Clouner. There were numerous flowers and mass cards. Burial took place in the family lot in St. Joseph's cemetery where Rev. Fr. Tessier assisted by Rev. Fr. Fournier recited the committal prayers. Arrangements were in charge of Funeral Director M.R. Laurin.

Jerome Mayotte was the son of Olympe (Jean-Louis, Eualie Roberge) and Marie Alice Blanche Jodoin (Joseph, Parmelie Dupont). He was born c. 1913 in Lowell, MA, the brother of Louis, Olympe Gerard,  Celine, Therese, Gerard and Robert. He died 17 April 1938 and was buried in Section Q, lot 89 on 20 April, 1938. His obituary appears in the 18 April 1938 edition of the Lowell Sun on page 3.

Jerome Mayotte, husband of Blanche (Bernard) Mayotte of 235 Pleasant street, Dracut died last night at St. Joseph's hospital after a short illnes, aged 24 years. He leaves his wife; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Olympe (Jodoin) Mayotte; two sisters, Mrs. Albert Beaudry and Miss Therese Mayotte and two brothers, Girard and Albert Mayotte of Lowell. The body was removed to the Archambault funeral home at 205 Pawtucket street where relatives and friends may call.

The funeral of Jerome Mayotte of 235 Pleasant street, Dracut who died Sunday at St. Joseph's hospital took place this morning at 8'oclock from the funeral home, 205 Pawtucket street. Many relatives and friends, including many from out-of-town were present. At 9 o'clock at St. Jean Baptiste church a solemn high funeral mass was celebrated by Rev. Arthur O. Mercier of St. Therese church, Dracut, assisted by Rev. Narcisse Cotnoir, O M I, as deacon and Rev. Alphone Breault, O M I, as sub-deacon. Seated on the sanctuary was Rev. Eugene Fournier O M I., of St. Joseph's church. The choir, under the direction of Georges Ayotte, sang the requiem mass by Pietro a Yon. The solos were sustained by Eugene Corbeil, Rodolphe Morirsette, Lionel Turcotte and Lucien Morrisette. As the body was taken from the church, Requiem ? was sung by the choir. Mrs. Georges Ayotte was the organist. The bearers were Gerard ?, Leo Blanchette, Arthur Michelin, Gerard Jodoin, Arthur Paradis and Donald Chaput. Burial was in the family lot in St. Joseph's cemetery were committal prayers were read by Rev. Fr. Mercier. There were many flowers. Funeral Directors Amdee Archambault & Sons were in charge.

Man Dies on Way to Church

LOWELL--Joseph E. Courtois of 126 Textile avenue, better known as Eddie Courtois, died unexpectedly yesterday.

Mr. Courtois was walking along textile avenue on his was to church and upon reaching White street was stricken with an apparent weak spell.
He was removed to St. Joseph's hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

He was assistant steward at the Yovick club. Mr. Courtois was a communicant of Ste. Jean d'Arc church.

He was married to the former Irene Christian, who survives him, along with a daughter, Maureen V. Courtois; a son, Donald J. Courtois; three sisters, Mrs. Eugene Perrin, Mrs. George Loiselle, Mrs. Lucien Labbe; two brothers, Albert Courtois and Lionel Courtois.

SAVED A BOY'S LIFE: LITTLE CHILD SAVED FROM DROWNING IN A CANAL AT HALL STREET

But for the quick arrival and presence of mind of Theophile Courtois of 177 Hall street and employed as a clerk at his father's store at 175 Hall street, another drowning would have been recorded this morning, for Mr. Courtois saved from a watery grave Rene L'Abbe, 3 years and 3 months old, son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert L'Abbe of 6 Regina place.


Shortly before 10 o'clock this forenoon the L'Abbe boy with his brother, Edouard, six years old, and a cousin, Arsene Glaude, 7 years of age, was playing on the banks of the canal in Cheever street between Aiken street and Pawtucket street. The boys were seated on the edge of the canal and were playing in the water with their feet. Rene, who is not as tall as the other boys could not reach the water and he attempted to lower himself to the water edge and fell in.


The boys shrieked for help and at this time Mr. Courtois was going through Cheever street with a basket of groceries. After hearing the outcries for help, he vaulted the fence and with out hesitating a moment threw himself into the water and succeeded in catching the little fellow, who was sinking for a third time. The boy, who was in a semi-conscious condition, was carried to the home of his parents by Mr. Courtois and now is none the worse for his cold bath. Mr. Courtois was warmly congratulated for his act of bravery by the many who witnessed the heroic feat.

PROWDY--Mrs. Frank Prowdy of Providence, R. I., formerly Miss Flore Courtois of this city, died Friday night at her home in that city, aged 29 years. She leaves, besides her husband, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Moise Courtois, of this city, four brothers and three sisters, Theophile Courtois of Worcester, and Napoleon, Charles, Arthur, Eva, Irene and Alice Courtois all of this city. Her body was removed Saturday to the home of her parents in this city, in care of Undertaker Joseph Albert.

MONTBLEAU--The funeral of Wilfrid Montbleau took place yesterday morning from his home, 449 Moody street, with funeral services at St. Jean Baptiste church. Rev. Fr. Magnan, O. M. I., officiated. The choir sang Perrault's mass. Dr. George E. Caisse directed and Arthur J. Martel played the organ. The bearers were Napoleon Daigle, Gedeon Lariviere, Antoine Mainville, Theophile Courtois, Aldemar Dube and Napoleon L'Heureux. Burial was in St. Joseph's cemetery, and Rev. Fr. Amyot, O. M. I. officiated at the grave. Undertaker Amedee Archambault had charge.


The deceased left a wife and two sons, Armand and Raphael; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas Montbleau, three brothers, Adelard of LaPairie, Que., and Henry and Orphea of Lowell, and four sisters, Mrs. Napoleon Daigle, Mrs. Gedeon Lariviere, Mrs. Antoine Mainville and Mrs. Theophile Courtois, all of Lowell.

Wilfrid was the brother of Victoria Monbleau, wife of Theophile Courtois.

Of the June weddings, one that was not mentioned occurred at St. Joseph's church June 29, at which Mr. Theophile Courtois led to the altar Miss Victoria Monbleau.

After the ceremony was performed the newly wedded couple and their relatives returned to the groom's house and partook of an elegant spread that awaited their arrival after which the happiest two of those assembled there went on a wedding tour to the New Hampshire hills stopping at Peterboro. A reception followed at which there was a vast array of presents.

He married Celine Mayotte and died on the 29th of April 1986. Celine Mayotte, Albert's wife, daughter of Olympe Mayotte and Marie-Blanche-Alice Jodoin, was born on the 16th of July, 1915 in Lowell, Massachusetts. She died on the 29th of October 1970 in Lowell, MA.

Mr. Albert H. Courtois, widower of Celine (Mayotte) Courtois, died in Lowell yesterday.
He was born in Lowell, and had been a lifelong resident of the city. He lived at 15 Common Avenue.
He was the son of the late Theophile and Victoria (Montbleau) Courtois. He was a communicant of St. Jean Baptiste Parish. Before his retirement he was a packer at Educator Crackers for many years. He was a lifelong memebr of the C.C.A. Club.
He is survived by one son, Richard Courtois of Lowell; One Daughter, Mrs. Pauline Gagne of Lowell; One Brother, Lionel Courtois of Dracut; two sisters, mrs. Evelynn Loiselle of Lowell and Mrs Juliette L'Abbee also of Lowell; five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Alice Mayotte, widow of Olympe Mayotte, and a well known resident of this city, died last night at her home, 80 Ford street.
Mrs. Mayotte was born in Canada, the daughter of the late Joseph Jodoin and the late Parmelie Dupont. She was a parishioner of Ste. Jean Baptiste church and a member of Ste. Anne's sodality connected with her parish.
She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Albert Courtois and Mrs. Armand Marquis, both of Lowell; two sons, Gerard Mayotte and Robert Mayotte, both of Lowell; five sisters, Rev. Sr. Ste. Clemence of the Grey Nuns of the Cross in Ottawa, Mrs. Antolnette Sabourin of Upton, Canada; Mrs Clementine Benoit of St. Hyacinthe, Canada; Miss Germain Jodoin of Upton, Canada and Miss Sidonnie Jodoin of Montreal; one brother, Alfred Jodoin of Montreal; seven grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was a member of the Third order of St. Francis, Holy family society and of the Union samuel de Champlain of the French-American Foresters.

COURTOIS-Mrs. Clotilde (Longtin) Courtois, wife of Moise Courtois, aged 62 years, died yesterday at her home, 103 Tucker St. Desceased had conducted a grocery business at Hall and Tucker streets for over 20 years. She leaves behind her husband, four sons, Arthur, Charles, Napoleon and Theophile; four daughters, Mrs. Eva Mailloux, Mrs. Alice Savall, Mrs. Irene Hebert and Miss Aldea Courtois; three brothers, Ferdinand of this city, Antoine and Joseph Longtin in Canada; also three sisters in Canada. She was a member of Ste. Annes sodality of St. Joseph's parish.
